Arrest in juvenile shooting incident

MEDIA RELEASE

For Immediate                                                            April 28, 2016

Arrest in juvenile shooting incident

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

On April 27, 2016 Ronnie Lee Neeley, 64, of Sylvania,  turned himself in to DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of menacing and one count each of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle and assault 2nd. All charges stem from an incident in Sylvania on Saturday April 23, 2016 where a 16 year old male juvenile was shot in the hip. The juvenile was transported to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga by DeKalb Ambulance Service, where he was treated and released. The juvenile was with a group of juveniles that were attempting to roll a neighbor’s yard with toilet paper. The juvenile was in the vehicle at the time he was shot.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states “This is a traumatic incident that could have been tragic had the bullet taken a different path. We are very thankful that the child did not suffer any more injury than he did.”
