Traffic Stops Leads to Arrest

 

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

 

            Several traffic stops was conducted on January 4th. The DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit stopped a vehicle on Alabama Highway 75 in Geraldine. A search of the vehicle was conducted as a result Drug Paraphernalia and Control Substance was found inside the vehicle. Jeremy Matthew Jones, 41 of Fyffe was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Control Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

            On a separate traffic stop made by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies on County Road 57 in the Dawson area. A search of the vehicle was conducted and Control Substance and Drug Paraphernalia was found with a little over four thousand dollars in cash. As a result of the search Matthew David Jones, 39 of Dawson and Krystle Croft Taylor, 31 also of Dawson was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance. Once Taylor was at the DeKalb County Detention Center she was found with Methamphetamine on her person, which led to an additional charge of Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd.

Sheriff Harris says “Thanks to the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit, Deputies, Geraldine Police Department, Albertville Police Department, and Crossville Police Department for their assistance on making these arrests.”

            On a different incident on January 4th, a joint operation was conducted between DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit and Geraldine Police Department. During the operation Ronald Troy Bodine, 52 of Horton was arrested on electronic solicitation of a child. Bodine attempted to contact a 14 year old female by way of Facebook. The Sheriff’s Office got involved with the case when an adult family member contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Bodine was arrested when he came to Geraldine thinking he was meeting the 14 year old.

            Sheriff Harris says “Because this family member contacted us on this case and the assistance of Geraldine Police Department and DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit, we were able to make this arrest. We are glad that we were able to get Bodine off the internet and off the street.”
