Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

On the afternoon of September 6th the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office got a report about a vehicle that had been stolen out of the owners’ yard on County Road 52 in Dawson.

Later that evening Crossville Police Officer noticed a vehicle that matched the description of the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Alabama Highway 68 and County Road 24. The Crossville Police Officer called the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office dispatch to run the tag number, it was confirmed that the vehicle was stolen. The Officer asked the driver, Joseph Daniel Hill, 33 of Albertville if he had any weapons inside the vehicle, Hill stated that he had a pistol in the passenger seat. At which time Geraldine officer and Deputies arrived on the scene to assist, and Investigators were contacted.

Hill was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st and Carrying Pistol Unlawfully, with pending charges of Robbery 3rd and Theft of Property 4th.

Sheriff Harris says “Thank you to the Crossville Officer for being observant and to the Geraldine, Deputies and Investigators for their assists. This is a good example of how all municipalities are attentive and come together to help each other.”
