Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the arrest of a Valley Head High School student for Drugs on September 24th. The School faculty noticed Dakota Hicks, 18 of Valley Head acting unusual, so they notified the School Resource Officer about his behavior. The School Resource Officer found a substance on his person at which time the Drug Task Force was called. When Drug Task Force arrived Hicks was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia. Hicks was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Sheriff Harris states “The faculty did a great job on noticing the difference of behavior in Hicks. This arrest shows the importance of a School Resource Officers in the Schools, and we are very fortunate to have them in 10 of the County Schools at this time. “
