For Immediate Release May 22, 2015 Several Unrelated Drug Arrest
Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports several unrelated drug arrest made on May 21st.
After receiving calls about a residence having drugs the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies and Drug Task Force agents went to the residence on Wooten Lane in Henagar to do a knock and talk. They noticed Mary Elizabeth Pence, 27 of Henagar, walking in the woods behind the residence. Deputies and Drug Task Force agents got consent from Pence to search her purse, as a result Marijuana was found. Pence was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. DHR called the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to check out a residence on County Road 342 in the Tenbroeck Community. When Deputies and Geraldine Police Officers arrived at the residence Bradley Dan Blackwell, 40 of Fyffe, stated that he had smoked some Marijuana. Blackwell gave Officers and Deputies consent to search the residence. As a result of the search Methamphetamine was found, at which time Drug Task Force agents were called to the residence. Blackwell was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Fyffe Police Officers made a traffic stop at the carwash in Fyffe. The Officers noticed a syringe and beer in plain view inside the vehicle. Drug Task Force agents were called to the scene and got consent to search the vehicle. As a result of the search Drug Paraphernalia and Methamphetamine was found. Three individuals were arrested Adam Keith Wooten, 33 of Grant and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Amanda Joanna Lawson, 24 of Grant was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Disorderly Conduct and Giving False ID to Officers. Billy Joe Lee, 39 of Albertville was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Beverage. On another Traffic stop Drug Task Force agents pulled over a vehicle on McGee Street in Powell. As Agents were at the back of the vehicle a black bag was thrown out the window. The bag contained 3.7 grams of Methamphetamine, 5 individual bags of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and some pills. Agents got consent to search the vehicle and found supplies to distribute Methamphetamine such as scales, several baggies to put Meth in, and syringes. Jackson County Narcotics, Jackson County Deputies, and DeKalb County Deputies were called to assist with these arrest. William Scott Goldin, 56 of Valley Head, Amber Elizabeth Benefield, 29 of Albertville, and Nicholas Michael Johnson, 25 of Ider were all arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd. All individuals arrested was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center.

It’s great to have such a good working relationship with DHR, Fyffe Police Department, Jackson County Narcotics, Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies and all other Law Enforcement Agencies.”
